TWELF-X OCEAN Collection

1908 Deep Wave

Our pioneer OCEAN watch collection is named the 1908 Deep Wave in tribute to the invention of the decompression table in 1908 by John Scott Haldane. Decompression sickness can happen when bubbles are formed in the body’s tissues and bloodstream caused from breathing from the nitrogen gas tank during a dive ascent and can result in death. The British Admiralty needed to create rules for safe decompression in the shortest possible time for deep diving and commissioned Haldane to design the decompression table for divers ascending from deep water. In 1908, Haldane published the first recognized decompression table for the British Admiralty and it remained in use till 1955.

The decompression table is synonymous with time. A uni-directional rotating bezel on a watch has always been used to keep track of time spent underwater as well as tracking of time spent at decompression stops to prevent quick ascent that can cause decompression sickness. TWELF-X 1908 Deep wave watch series features a 120-click unidirectional bezel to ensure that time is kept accurately. Till today, calculating decompression stops is fundamental to any basic dive course. Having a good watch to keep track of this has been fundamental to any dive adventure.  It helps diver ensure their safety and has allowed many to explore the vast deep ocean beneath the waves. The watch is water resistance to 200 meters or 656 feet and is suitable for adventures in the OCEAN.
