Take your next diving adventure to the next level. Put on your diving gears and leap into the watery unknown. Though it takes a much braver soul to explore some of the voids that are lurking below, The Great Blue Hole is sure to offer you a diving experience like no other. The massive underwater sinkhole off the coast of Belize extends 125 meters (about 410 feet) into the Earth's crust. It is one of the largest and most famous sea holes in the world.

As you dive into the underwater sinkhole, you will be greeted by the reef sharks, turtles, and giant corals. Dive 90 meters deeper than that and you will be diving into the a thick layer of toxic hydrogen sulfide. You want to be careful when you arrived to this part as Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic gas that can produce extremely rapid CNS and respiratory depression. Unless you are a certified diver to go such a depth, you might want to stay within the depth safe for you.

Towards the bottom of the hole, about 120 meters (about 393 feet) you will stumble upon one of the biggest surprises of this underwater unknown, the formation of stalactites. You will be astonished by the hole’s magnificent past. Stalactites form when water containing dissolved calcium bicarbonate from the limestone rock drips from the ceiling of a cave. As the water comes into contact with the air, some of the calcium bicarbonate precipitates back into limestone to form a tiny ring, which gradually elongates to form a stalactite. You heard it right! “Water comes into contact with the air.” This means that this underwater sinkhole that has a depth of about 125 meters was once a dry cave above sea level. Scientists have also taken samples of the stalactites to study its formation and determined a rough estimation of the formation of the hole, which was as far back as 153,000 years ago, with formation continuing at 66,000 years ago, 60,000 years ago, and finally 15,000 years ago.

Above is a visual representation to show roughly how the hole looks like. Unfortunately, scientists have discovered that this sinkhole will not be there for eternity. Everyday, new waterfall of sands fall into it. The sand will then gradually fill up the hole and this process would mean that The Great Blue Hole of Belize would eventually fall into the hand of extinction.

You are indeed one of the few chosen ones if you have been trained to perform what you do, such as diving to extreme depths. The Great Blue Hole of Belize is one of the world's deepest underwater sinkholes, reaching a depth of 125 meters. At that depth, you'll need a watch that can go that deep, or much deeper. The Twelf-X Ocean and Sky series have a water resistance of 200 meters. This means that the Twelf-X watches would be unaffected even under extreme underwater pressure. If you want a watch to last you long enough under such conditions then Twelf-X is a no brainer.
