The Borderless Experience: African Quadripoint

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadripoint

There is only one particular place in the world where four nations literally connect as they come together as one. This extraordinary spot is none other than the African Quadripoint. Also known as the “four corners of Africa,” the four countries of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe meet at the eastern end of the Caprivi Strip. This very spot is technically just water, but this unique intersection occurs nowhere else in the world.

While many claimed the spot to be a quadripoint, a point where four countries come together, some instead believed that the spot consists of two tripoints located very closely to one another separated by only about 150 meters (490 ft). True enough that the boarder, or rather boarders, have caused a lot of confusion within the people who both originated from these countries and those who come to visit. Hence, it is no surprise that the borders in this area have generated controversy over the years. In 1970, for instance, South Africa, a country which used to control Namibia, claimed that all four countries came together in a quadripoint and questioned whether Zambia had a right to operate a ferry between Botswana and Kazungula, Zambia.
