Hiking Trails - Milford Track - New Zealand
Introducing the 53-kilometer (33-mile) epic trek on New Zealand's South Island that has some of the finest scenery in the country, the Milford Track. It takes about five days and you will pass by numerous waterfalls including the Sutherland Falls which is New Zealand's highest point! What you can expect: cold, clear alpine lakes; beautiful meadows; glaciers; and towering mountain peaks. You can find accommodation along the way but it is in basic alpine huts or you may opt more comfortable private lodges. You need to book in advance though! Milford Track has changeable weather and it can be very wet.
What did you like about the trip?
I like how there are so many things to expect! From clear alpine lakes to towering mountain peaks. All of these beautiful sceneries made me want to hike the Milford Track so badly!
What are the obstacles?
The weather. It is definitely unpredictable. There were times where it rained too heavily, my watch stopped functioning, because silly me brought along a low water resistance watch. If I I were to hike at Milford Track again, I would definitely wear a TWELF-X watch, because it is my personal favourite for wet weather or water activities.
What have you learned from the trip?
I learnt that life is unpredictable. From weather to relationships. Anything can change or suddenly happen. So, I believe it is essential to always expect the worst, just to be mentally prepared. Be physically prepared if possible and necessary.
What gears or tools are essential for the trip?
As mentioned, I think a high water resistance watch is essential, and I personally recommend a TWELF-X watch. It has a water resistance of 20 ATM. It is made for wet weather! Also, their brand celebrates the adventures that shape lives, which fits my character as an adventurer!
